Mother's Day 2014, my 9 year old daughter asked me
"Mom-how old was your mom when she died? and how old were you?"
I pause for a moment and reply-"I was 9 years old sweetheart and my mother was 42."
Very quickly my daughter responds-
"I'm 9 and you are 42. I can't imagine my life without you mom.
She wraps her arms around me, gives me the biggest hug ever and says-"
You must have been very sad. I wish I could have met her."
It took me 42 years and a brilliant loving daughter to help me realize I needed to change my life or I was going to repeat history.
I wasn't sleeping well, my hormones had decided they wanted to take over my body and drive for awhile- that was definitely not working out well for anyone!
I was tired. Just tired. Everything I knew about cooking I had learned in middle school home economics class (I could make chocolate chip cookies, bake an apple pie and sew a pillow). I would crash diet and lose a bunch of weight only to gain it all back and then some. My poor scale just wanted to be left alone.
How did this happen and more importantly-what was I going to do about it?
So that Mother's Day was the day my true journey began. It was time to roll up my sleeves, make some serious life changes and create a new and much improved me. I owed it to myself and my family. It was time to get smart about what being healthy really looked like, surround myself with health and wellness experts and start down the path to finding authentic wellness that would become my lifestyle.... for me.

- I was 100 pounds overweight.
- My job had become working 55+ hours a week in a high stress environment.
- I was exhausted-mentally and physically.
- I had no time for myself, my family or friends.
